Each Apprenticeship scheme has its own level of study.The level number shows the difficulty of the qualification and allows different types of qualifications to be compared against each other. So, a Level 2 qualification in an academic subject like Maths is of the same difficulty as a Level 2 qualification in a hands-on subject like Plumbing.
Level 1 -
Qualifications like NVQ 1, GNVQ Foundation, BTEC Introductory Diploma or Certificate
Level 2 -
Qualifications like NVQ 2, GCSEs or BTEC First Diplomas
Level 3 -
Qualifications like NVQ 3, A Levels, BTEC Nationals or International Baccalaureate
Level 4 -
University level qualifications like Higher National Certificates
Level 5 -
University level qualifications like Higher National Diplomas or Foundation Degrees
